    Jan RobinsonHead of Start Well Service and Early Years Strategic Lead

    Currently Early Years Strategic Lead and Head of Bolton's Start Well Service. Jan qualified as a teacher in 1984 with a B.Ed degree with Early Years specialism, and has taught in primary schools, nursery schools and within integrated early years/ children's centres. Senior leadership roles include Nursery School Headteacher, Head of an Early Excellence Centre/Children's Centre within a large Primary School and Associate Leader roles in Primary Schools. LA roles include Early Years Advisory Teacher/Consultant in St Helens and Lancashire. Jan has worked as Associate Tutor on the MA in Early Years Leadership at Edge Hill University and as a tutor and assessor for the Centre for Educational Leadership at Manchester Metropolitan University. Jan was awarded an MA in Early Childhood Education (Sheffield) in 2005 and holds the National Professional Qualification in Integrated Centre Leadership (NPQICL).

    Laura WrightStart Well Early Years and Childcare Adviser

    Laura qualified as a teacher in 1995 with a first class B.Ed degree, and has been an advisory teacher and is currently Early Years and Childcare adviser in Bolton.

    Laura's role has a particular focus on our work with schools and developing a traded programme of professional development across the early years and childcare sector. Laura has led a variety of successful programmes and projects to raise quality in the early years in Bolton and is EYFS Profile Moderation Manager and Early Years Assessment Lead.

  • Dawn France

    Dawn FranceStart Well Early Years and Childcare Adviser

    Currently working as an Adviser with Bolton Start Well Service. Dawn qualified as a teacher in 1990, and has taught in primary schools, nursery schools and within integrated early years/ children's centres. Senior leadership roles include Children Centre Management and Deputy Headship. LA roles include Lead Early Years Advisory Teacher/Consultant, and Early Education Co-ordinator with Integrated Services and Partnership Team in Lancashire. Dawn also worked as an Associate Tutor on the BA Hons in Early Years Leadership, ITT and EYPS courses at Edge Hill University and has worked as a mentor and assessor for CETAD at Lancaster University.

    Dawn is responsible for Early Years Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and for embedding the use of Early Help and early years interventions across all early years settings, and leading the sufficiency and take up of childcare places for 2 year olds.

  • Helen Shearer

    Helen ShearerStart Well Early Years and Childcare Adviser

    Helen has responsibility for improving quality and outcomes across early years providers and in particular, those that are judged by Ofsted as requiring improvement. Helen is also leading on the implementation of the governments offer of 30 hours funded childcare for working parents which is to be implemented from September 2017.

    John McSwigganStart Well Strategy and Commercial Manager

    John is leading on a range of integration and improvement programmes to support the implementation of national and regional early years policy and the Bolton Starting Well Strategy. John is also leading on the development and business operation of a range of sustainable commercial services focused on improving outcomes for children and their families and sourcing external funding to further develop the local early years offer.

  • Sheron Kantor

    Sheron KantorStart Well Quality and Outcomes Senior Consultant

    Sheron is a Start Well Quality and Outcomes Senior Consultant who leads the team providing a support and challenge role to early years settings and schools. She also works with the Heads of Start Well Children's Centres to coordinate EYFS quality and outcomes support for children’s centres play and learning activities and work with the advisers to lead the development of EYFS curriculum support materials, resources and workforce training and development programmes.

    Kathryn CatterallStart Well Communication and Language Senior Consultant

    Kathryn is the Communication and Language Senior Consultant and leads a team including NHS speech and language therapy colleagues providing leadership of early years communication and language support programmes, interventions, resources and professional development programmes.

  • Pamela Graveson

    Pamela GravesonStart Well Early Years Communication and Language Consultant

    Currently Start Well Communication and Language Consultant within the Start Well Service, Pamela started her childcare career in 1991 helping to develop Bolton's Special Needs Under Fives Support Service and further roles included Literacy Support assistant in a local primary school and Crèche Co-ordinator for Bolton Sure Start. Pamela joined the Early Years Team in 2003 initially as Area SENCO and subsequently as Quality and Inclusion Officer. Pamela supported the 'Every Child a Talker' programme and is a nominated trainer for the ICAN 'Early Language and Development programme' and has completed Elklan level 4 in 'Communication Counts 0-3's'. Pamela has gained a BA (hons) Degree in Early Years Childhood Studies and has undertaken the Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS) with Edge Hill University.

    Alex Baxter qualified as a Nursery nurse in 1997 and has managed a number of childcare settings across Bolton, Wigan, Leigh and Trafford. Alex has a BA honours degree and holds Early Years Professional Status.

  • Jane Howarth

    Jane HowarthStart Well Early Years Consultant

    Jane Howarth qualified as a nursery nurse in 1985 and has worked in a wide range of childcare settings in the private and maintained sectors in Manchester, Bolton and Lancashire, owning her own private nursery for the past 11 years. She has a BA (Hons) in Early Years, has gained Early Years Professional status, and is now completing a PGCE qualification. Jane has undertaken Forest School training.

    Jane is a Start Well Early Years Consultant delivering the quality and outcomes offer to Early Years Foundation Stage funded providers.

  • Ann Monckton

    Ann MoncktonStart Well Childcare Partnership Officer

    Currently Childcare Partnership Officer working within Bolton's Start Well Service. Ann gained her NVQ level 3 in 1997 and has since gained a City and Guilds Certificate (7307) in Adult Learning. Her experience includes working in a pre-school and in advisory roles with the Pre-school Learning Alliance and National Childminding Association (NCMA). This includes responsibility as a school governor for setting up and managing a private nursery provision within an old school building. Her recent role with NCMA enabled Ann to work in partnership with Bolton council successfully setting up Bolton Children Come First Childminding Network which gained accreditation in 2010.
