Title:                 Health, Safety and Fire Awareness


Description:               To provide participants with an awareness of health and safety legislation, their rights and responsibilities and to ensure that the organisation and its staff comply with mandatory fire training.

Presenter:                  Frank Warren, Principal Health & Safety Manager, Chief Executive’s Department, Bolton Council.

Objectives:                By the end of this workshop you will:

·         Understand the general requirements of health and safety legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 (general duties of employers and staff)

·         Understand health and safety policy and systems

·         Understand who has responsibility for health and safety

·         Considerations in day to day tasks, including risk assessment

·         Understand the nature and dangers of fire

·         Understand basic fire legislation

·         Take the correct actions on discovering a fire

·         Safely evacuate premises in the event of a fire

·         Understand the different types and the use of fire-fighting equipment

·         Understand the importance of good housekeeping and general fire safety
